Welcome to the Red Deer Public Library Children's Department, where learning is fun, and the fun never stops! We offer services and collections for children, families, daycare providers, homeschoolers and everyone who loves children's materials. Join us for regular storytimes, craft programs, tours and special events for children from birth to age 12.
The beautiful 1,000 square-meter space in the Firehall section of the Downtown Branch was made possible by a generous donation from the Piper Creek Optimist Club of Red Deer, and a matching grant from the Provincial Government's CRC (Community Recreation and Culture) Grant program. A focal point of the space is The Spirit of Youth gumball mural which contains 14,740 gumballs and was created on the occasion of the 1998 Alberta Winter Games.
The staff at the Children's Department are delighted to help you. Come and talk to Youth Services Manager Jill Griffith and her staff during the following open hours:
Monday to Thursday: 9:30 a.m to 8:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

TumbleBook Library is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
