The Red Deer Public Library Adult Literacy Program matches adult learners with volunteer tutors to work together 2 - 4 hours per week. They meet once or twice weekly, usually at the Dawe or Downtown Branches of the Library. Learners meet with their tutors in one-to-one situations, or in small groups of 2-5 learners.

Learners may be Adult Basic Literacy learners (ABL) or English as a Second Language learners (ESL). Basic skills may include reading, writing, and numeration up to about a Grade 9 level, as well as conversation and pronunciation.

The services of the RDPL Adult Literacy Program are available to persons in the city of Red Deer over 18 years of age.

Tutors and learners receive a free library card, and the only cost to the learner is an annual registration fee of $25.00.
