Adult Literacy

Adult Literacy ProgramThe Red Deer Public Library Adult Literacy Program matches adult learners with volunteer tutors to work together for up to 2 hours per week. Learners meet with their tutors one-on-one or in small groups of 2-4 learners. They meet once a week at the library.

Learners may be Adult Basic Literacy learners (ABL) or English as a Second Language learners (ESL). Basic skills may include reading, writing, and numeracy up to about a Grade 9 level, as well as conversation and pronunciation.

The services of the RDPL Adult Literacy Program are available to persons in the city of Red Deer over 18 years of age.

Tutors and learners receive a free library card, and the only cost to the learner is an annual registration fee of $25.00.
