RDR Logo

Red Deer Reads is back for its third year and now accepting nominations!

What is Red Deer Reads?
Red Deer Reads is a community-wide book club where books are nominated and chosen by Red Deerians. Nominations are being accepted until March 11, 2017; from submitted nominations, the top five titles will be announced this spring, allowing Red Deerians time to read and vote for their favourite!

Book Selection Criteria
To be eligible, a book must:
-Be written by a living Canadian author
-Have a WOW factor and be a great conversation starter
-Appeal to a wide audience

Suggest the book you think Red Deer should read by submitting titles on RDPL's Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages or in person at any RDPL location.

Red Deer Reads FAQs

What is a community book club?
The goal of a community book club is to get everyone in Red Deer to read and discuss the same book. In this way, we can bring Red Deerians together through a shared reading experience and provide many opportunities for people to connect and have engaging conversations with one another.

How does it work?
After taking submissions from Red Deerians in February and March, we will narrow down our list of potential titles to the Top Five Finalists. We then ask the community to vote on their favorite title. The book with the most votes will be crowned our 2017 Red Deer Reads winning title! Then RDPL and some of our partners work to get this book into the hands of as many Red Deerians as possible before launching our exciting fall program!

Why should I participate?
To put it simply: free books (we’ll be giving away lots of copies of our winner!), free programs and events, and lots of opportunities to meet new people and connect with them over something that we all enjoy: a great book!
