Red Deer Public Library (RDPL) acknowledges the many benefits of volunteerism to our organization, to the volunteers and to the community at large. The work performed by our volunteers is integral to the operations of the organization, not only for the time they contribute, but for their knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and fresh points of view which enhance the creativity and qualify of service provided by the organization they serve. Volunteers are needed in a wide variety of activities:
- Adult Literacy program.
- Friends of the Library.
- Homebound Readers’ Program.
- Library Board and Committees.
- Summer Reading Program.
- General (e.g. craft preparation, assisting with programs)

The Red Deer Library Board seeks a volunteer to serve on the Red Deer Library Board. As a Library Board trustee you have the opportunity to have a positive impact in our community and contribute directly to this governance board. If interested, please apply to: www.reddeer.ca/
Library Board information, including our 3-year Plan of Service, Mission, Values and past minutes can be found here. The Library Board conducts business in a "paperless environment" and seeks members comfortable with and willing to use technology for Library Board communication and information exchange as well as those who understand the community, its needs and is available to attend at least 2 monthly meetings. The Board meets monthly (last Wednesday of the month, 6:30 pm) from September to June and you will also attend a monthly committee meeting (Thursday prior to Board meeting at noon) from September to June.
