Adult Services - Foreign Films Collection
Description:
Red Deer Public Library’s new DVD collection of foreign films provides the original soundtrack with English subtitles. The movies in this collection represent widely celebrated and award-winning directors from around the world.
Access:
Foreign films are interfiled in the regular DVD Collection. The DVD case sports a green Foreign Film label and a sticker that indicates the original language of the film. All the foreign films can be accessed through the library catalogue under the uniform title “Foreign Films” and the search can be refined further by choosing the language of soundtrack/subtitles which differs from DVD to DVD.
Size:
The Foreign Films Collection will grow to over 300 films when the order is complete by the end of 2008. The collection will be expanded and updated on an annual basis.

You are welcome to check out our extensive DVD collection in Foreign languages, which gives our patrons an opportunity to watch movies in a variety of languages (national cinematography is not represented as it is in the Foreign Films Collection).

Independent and international films delight and challenge the imagination and inform the artistic experience. However, an understanding of their historic, cultural and national context can enhance the impact of their imaginative richness.
