Constance Renkema

Candidate
for Public School Board Trustee
It takes courage and a clear sense of direction for someone to choose
to become involved in public life. For me this path was inevitable. A
lifetime of looking at issues and daring to voice opinions that support
or change the direction of society has brought me to the decision that
my combined experience and involvement will help to build a stronger public
school system.
As a private citizen I have contributed to the overall well being of this
community by supporting the arts, and giving direction in programs relating
to children, youth and seniors. I am a wife, mother of three and committed
individual who's voice will be heard.
Through the personal experience of shepherding my children through Elementary,
Junior and High School in Red Deer, I have developed a wide range of knowledge
of the programs and issues that are presented to parents. To ensure that
each of my children received the best education for each of their abilities,
I became involved in shaping their educational opportunities.
I have a social conscience with a sensitivity to the needs of people.
I have chosen to be involved with special needs children, have worked
in group home settings with troubled teens and have volunteered within
the correctional system.
As a Teacher's Assistant in three school jurisdictions I have seen the
issues that are occur and I am interested in building the social fabric
of our society through better educational opportunities.
