As a father of 2 girls, Kirsten age 12 (St. Thomas Middle school), and Katherine-Ann age 9 (St. Mary's Elementary), I admit to having a vested interest in the schooling system. I compare things as they are now to the schools I attended when growing up and I feel that the political system could give so much more to the schooling of our children. Yes their budgets are difficult to keep in line--we all know how little a dollar gets us these days. But, investing in our schools has many side benefits. It's about giving our children the tools needed to continually develop throughout life as a happy, spiritual and contributing individual.

The teachers need better support to help in their continual development, due to the ever changing curricullum and other challenges of their job. We all feel the greater pressure to perform in this technologically advanced world. Learning new things is considered a very stressful endeavor, learning to a level to be able to teach it comfortably is even more stressful.

While the schools do have very good positive strengths, we need to continuously grow in maintaining a healthy, happy and safe environment.

Schools that require expansion should receive the funding required for expansion. Therefore, elementary children would not need to be bussed long distances

Most importantly, the links between schools, church and family need to be continually strengthened. With God's help we can achieve so much more.

I would like to have your vote so that I may represent you on the School Board. I will provide new ears to represent you and a new voice for you to be heard.

Having moved to Red Deer 9 years ago, we quickly grew to love this city. We feel strongly that this is a wonderful place to bring up our children and provide them with a diverse and full upbringing.
