A
$500,000 bequest to Red Deer Public Library continues to benefit Red
Deer's teens.
In 2004 Red Deer Public Library
received a $500,000 bequest from retired high school teachers “Ma
and Pa” Dickson. Margaret Dickson [left], who taught math, and
John Dickson [right], who taught social studies, were mentors as well
as educators, providing young people with the highest level of support
for lifelong learning.
$80,000 from the Dickson Bequest was invested in the mezz: the Downtown Rotary Club Teen Space.
Contributions to the John and Margaret Dickson Public Library Fund at
the Red Deer and District Community Foundation
will continue to benefit the Library’s services to Red Deer’s
teens. We are pleased that the Dickson legacy lives on in the Dickson
Tower in the mezz.
